Almost
One thing I noticed while walking around the Mocha Club office was that a lot of people were secretly keeping tabs on the ongoing World Cup. It’s the greatest sporting event in the world, and, being an avid soccer fan, I was no different. And after sitting through 90 minutes and 30 seconds of scoreless agony in the US/Algeria match, I was all but sure we would be sent packing after the group...

Frontier Ranch + Mocha Club= Bliss
Katie here. I’ve spent the last week and (almost) a half at one of the greatest places on earth, Frontier Ranch.  Frontier is a Young Life property literally on the side of Mt. Princeton, one of only a few 14ers in Colorado…and we got to climb to one of the false peaks on Thursday! I’m still in recovery. I am NOT what I used to be. :)  Taylor HS at the top Chalet One of...

WatchWatch
Sometimes I think I am 5 years old instead of almost 23. Because of this inner 5 year old boy, I threw out the idea of having a bubble blowing contest to give ourselves a little break. We notified everyone in the Mocha Club office and bought supplies for the next day. I was actually giddy looking forward to 3:00 in the afternoon for kick off. Then Brent drops the bomb on us: He doesn’t know how...

She's so lucky, She's a star...
Coffee with Ms.Annie Downs this morning? Check. Awesome way to start a Mocha Club work day? Check. Celebrity Sighting? Check. That’s right. Sporting some black wire-framed glasses and lime green Keds, Jamie Lynn Spears herself was in line in front of us at The Perch coffee shop in Brentwood. I know, I know, seeing celebrities in Nashville is a normal occurrence for natives,...

iPhone Madness
It is so satisfying when you discover what you learn in school actually applies to the real world. Today is release date of the new iphone 4G and I can’t help but think back to my last semester of college. In Economics, you learn about pricing strategies that make for a successful marketing plan. Apple, in particular, uses a premium pricing strategy which is basically when you set a high price...

A couple of weeks ago the interns got a true taste of Music City at the Mercy Lounge downtown. The Civil Wars opened up for Cadillac Sky, who is a Mocha Club artist. The Civil Wars is made up of Joy Williams and John Paul White—one of their songs, “Poison and Wine,” was featured on Grey’s Anatomy and you can download their live album for free off their myspace. Cadillac...

My MC Story -- Mary Catherine
On a scorching day in April in the middle of 600 college students on Legion Field at The University of Georgia, I first heard about Mocha Club. My longtime best friend and I drove 84.44 miles to see our latest obsession, Matt Wertz, perform in Athens, GA. Little did I know, that one MC plug would begin weaving my heart for Africa.  Fast forward 4 years and countless Matt Wertz & Dave Barnes...

Here We Go.
Hailing from Indiana, Georgia, Texas, Virginia and right around the office corner in Brentwood, Tennessee, the five of us interns descended on the Mocha Club offices in mid-May and linked arms for an unbelievable summer.  Strangers with the same heart – to see and be change in Africa. And we created this little blog to be our view on life as a Mochatern where we’ll blog what inspires us, what...
